John's research is focused on a variety of sport psychology concepts, including mental toughness, character, time perspective and psychometrics.

He is a Chartered Psychologist, Chartered Scientist, Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.

John joined the department as a lecturer in 2015.
