Jane Wray qualified as a registered nurse (RN) at St James' University Hospital in Leeds and after a period in clinical practice began her academic research career in the field of learning disabilities, working with children, their families and carers.

Jane has continued to undertake research promoting inclusion within the health and social care sectors with a more recent focus on nursing, nurses and the workplace.

She has published and presented her work nationally and internationally and is a founding member of the International Advisory Board for the peer-reviewed Journal of Intellectual Disabilities (Sage Publications, London).

Jane has collaborated with the Council of Deans and UK University Faculties for Nursing and Health Professions' Working Group on Healthcare (Education for Disabled Students) and the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

She was a member of the HEA's Special Interest Group on Inclusion and the Royal College of Nursing's National Equality and Diversity Committee.
