Dr Affolderbach is an economic geographer interested in the relationship between environmental change and economic development. She joined the University of Hull in August 2014 as Lecturer in Human Geography.

She has an international background with an MSc in Geography from the University of Cologne and a PhD in Geography from Simon Fraser University.

Before moving to the UK, Dr Affolderbach worked as postdoctoral researcher at the University of Luxembourg and as visiting scholar at Clark University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
