Diane joined the University of Hull in September 2015 after 34 years working in secondary schools.

She has experience of both pastoral and curriculum-based management posts in schools, including Curriculum Leader for Mathematics, Head of Sixth Form, Advanced Skills Teacher with responsibility for Training and Staff Development and Assistant Principal.

Diane has also spent some time working across the academy group in developing and supporting training for School Direct mentors and trainees.

Contributed to the Nuffield Secondary Mathematics core textbooks; in particular the lead lecture and associated work on stained glass windows.

  • Presented research, exploring the impact of management styles on classroom practice, carried out using an Action Research approach for her MA, at the Bera Conference in 1999.
  • Presented research on effective learning, carried out using the same approach, at the London Institute of Education's Improvement in Action Conference in 2010
