Dave Lunt researches the fundamental evolutionary processes causing genomes to differ between individuals, species, and across the diversity of life.

He is a member of the EvoHull: Evolutionary and Environmental Genomics research group, and he applies genome sequencing to a range of both fundamental and applied problems.

Dave is a strong advocate for open and reproducible science.

Research

Research Interests

  • Evolutionary comparative genomics; mutation, recombination, gene duplication, and the molecular basis of genomic change.
  • Applying modern genomics to applied problems: understanding major agricultural challenges, detecting pathogens and invasive species in agriculture and forestry using high throughput DNA techniques.
  • Promoting and advancing reproducible science. This involves bioinformatics pipelines and software for analysis of genome data.
