Dr Porter is a historical geographer interested in the development and application of geospatial technologies in the humanities.

She joined the University of Hull in 2017 as a lecturer in human geography.

Before moving to Hull, Dr Porter was a research associate on the ERC project Spatial Humanities: Texts, GIS & Places and on the EPSRC SHARC project, both at Lancaster University.
