Summary

Caroline is a Research Associate within the Department of Psychological Health, Wellbeing and Social Work, and the research group SPARC (Social and Psychological Research in Long Term Conditions). Her main areas of interest are adult social care and health, with a particular interest in adult safeguarding, especially in a care home context; the lived experiences of people with cognitive impairments and carers, especially those who provide care and support from a distance.

Caroline's recent and current research include evaluations of a social prescribing scheme, and of a post-stroke music intervention (Strokestra); research exploring GPs' experiences of safeguarding in a care home context.; carers' experiences of caring from a distance, and of staying in touch with family members and friends living in care homes.

Caroline's professional background is in social work; prior to joining the University she worked for many years in services which provided support and advocacy to people with learning disabilities.

Caroline has conducted research across a range of areas in health and social care. Her main interests include adult abuse and safeguarding; the lived experience of cognitive impairment, and of informal carers (with a particular focus on the experiences of 'distance carers'); technology in health and social care.
