Andrew Cornforth started teaching English at schools in Hong Kong in 1993 after graduating in Social Sciences from Nottingham Trent University and then undertaking postgraduate teaching qualifications in Education and English Language teaching .

For the next 14 years, he followed a career teaching English language in schools, colleges and universities around the world, with posts in South-East Asia, China and the Middle East, as well as in the UK.

Before joining the University of Hull in 2007, Andrew was lecturing and teacher training on English language programmes in the Academic and Technical Studies Institute of the Royal Saudi Air Force, Saudi Arabia.

Professional highlights

Working very closely with the University Academic Partnership Office and local partner institutions, in establishing the expanding overseas international English language pre-sessional programmes in China has been a particular personal highlight and achievement in recent years.

Another notable achievement through these ventures has been to forge further professional links in China so as to organise and enable TESOL student teaching placements for university Education and Languages students.
