Geography and geology is part of the School of Environmental Sciences, which sits within the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

COURSES

  • Geography BA

    Address complex social, economic and political processes in a range of settings in the developed and developing world.

  • Geography BSc

    Study how landscapes form and change over different timescales and gain key skills in GIS and data analysis.

  • Geology

    Specialist training for careers in mining, petroleum, civil engineering and environmental consultancy.

  • Geology with Physical Geography

    A degree rooted in practical and field work. You'll acquire skills in map creation and interpretation, and resource identification.

  • Human Geography

    Explore the complexity and diversity of human social, economic, cultural and political systems.

  • Physical Geography

    Yes, there's some theory. But there's also a whole load of extensive hands-on training in analytical techniques in the lab and in the field.

WHY STUDY AT HULL?

There is a strong focus on field trips to destinations in the UK and overseas, and there's the option to spend a year at one of our partner universities abroad. Our geography courses are accredited by the Royal Geographical Society and our geology courses are accredited by the Geological Society of London.

CAREERS

There’s a whole raft of stimulating careers open to geography and geology graduates: roles including environmental officer, energy analyst and resource geologist, to name just a few. The skills you'll pick up will also equip you for the wider jobs market – from management to the media. Many of our students choose to progress to postgraduate study, including teacher training and research degrees.
