Many of our university-owned and partnership houses are either situated on campus or in the streets right next to the university. You’ll only ever be around a 10- or 15-minute walk from your lectures, and most of your neighbours will be fellow students. The houses are in an ideal position for students on courses with longer teaching terms or later sessions or rehearsals (such as drama, music, nursing and medical students).
Most houses accommodate five people and offer self-catered accommodation in single rooms. Room sizes range from small and medium to large and extra-large. There are shared kitchen and dining areas, and most rooms come with shared bathroom facilities, but there are a small number of en-suite rooms available.
Nominated partnership agreement
The University have a nominated partnership agreement with Kexgill, an award-winning provider of student housing. If you apply to live in a student house, you may be placed in a house that is owned and managed by Kexgill. The contract dates are exactly the same as university-owned housing and you'll be fully supported by a team of on-site staff, including 24-hour maintenance.
Please note, if you apply to live in a student house, you choose the room size you want, and the university does the rest, placing you in either a university-owned or a partnership house depending on availability.
Some of our partnership houses have been newly refurbished, with modern décor and brand new furniture. If you’re one of the lucky ones to be offered a room in a freshly upgraded house, you’ll pay a little bit more - around £5 extra per week - so it’s important to consider this in your budget. It’s not possible at this stage to make a preference in your application for a university-owned or partnership house, so you choose which size room you want, we’ll find you the best match available and the rest comes down to luck!
